Synopsis
Systematic review is defined as the application of strategies that limit bias in the assembly, critical appraisal, and synthesis of all relevant studies on a specific topic. It may include a meta-analysis, which is a quantitative summary of the results. Considering their necessity in establishment of therapeutic decisions for clinical guidelines, systematic review and meta-analysis should be performed intensively. These studies are actually simple, inexpensive and of course doable in work from home setting, yet they are highly appreciated for clinical recommendation as well as publication in highly reputable international journals.

Objective of the workshop
To introduce participants intermediate level multivariable statistical methods to be applied in medical and health sciences research
Expected outcomes of the workshop

- analyse multiple linear and multiple logistic regression intermediate level multivariable statistical analysis methods
- interpret and conclude the findings from statistical analyses

Workshop Overview
This workshop aims to introduce participants to the DRG/Casemix system, focusing on enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services. Recent discussions surrounding proposed increases in private insurance premiums have prompted the government to consider Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) or Casemix as alternative provider payment methods. During a recent Town Hall meeting organized by the Ministry of Health, the application of DRGs for non-admitted cases in health centers was a key topic of discussion.
Primary care centers typically serve as gateways for patients accessing secondary and tertiary care within health financing programs. Designed for public health specialists and professionals, this workshop will provide foundational knowledge on DRGs and Casemix, equipping participants with the skills necessary to manage these systems effectively in the future. Professor Dato’ Dr. Syed Mohamed Aljunid, a Casemix expert from the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at IMU University, will share his extensive experience in implementing Casemix systems across various developing countries. Additionally, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Hafiz Jaafar from the Public Health Unit, Department of Primary Health Care at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia will provide insights into the local implementation of the Casemix system. Attendees can expect an overview of the evolution of the DRG/Casemix system, beginning with its introduction in the 1980s by Professor Robert Fetter at Yale University.
Today, this system is utilized in over one hundred countries worldwide. The workshop will delve into the Minimum Data Set required for the Casemix system, including the coding requirements for diagnoses and procedures using the ICD classification system. Furthermore, the benefits of utilizing the Casemix System as a tool to support quality assurance programs will be discussed, highlighting its advantages as a prospective provider payment mechanism under National Health Insurance programs. Participants will also have the opportunity to see demonstrations of software currently available to support the implementation of the Casemix system, including the recently launched MY-DRG casemix grouper—an advanced, dynamic grouper software. A pragmatic approach to planning the implementation of the Casemix system at health centers and hospitals, as well as at a national level, will also be presented during this workshop.

Synopsis
As we approach the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), global health systems face a critical implementation deficit. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a definitive accelerator, capable of enabling 79% of SDG targets, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). From predictive analytics for infectious disease surveillance to generative AI for streamlining hospital administration, the potential is vast. However, the deployment of AI in diverse and low-resource settings carries significant risks, including the exacerbation of the “digital divide,” the entrenchment of algorithmic bias, and threats to data sovereignty.
- Strategic Applications: How AI is currently reshaping diagnostics, disease surveillance, and workforce optimization.
- Governance & Ethics: Navigating the WHO’s regulatory considerations and the “black box” problem to ensure safety and trust.
- Practical Implementation: Designing AI interventions that are equitable, locally owned, and integrated into Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)
